Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, held meetings with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisaid Abshir and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers. This was reported by Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry on social media.
During the meeting with Somalia's Minister, the parties discussed prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation and assessed the regional security landscape, including the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
"Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in trade, agriculture, fisheries, green energy, and education. They also explored opportunities for extending Azerbaijan's humanitarian and development projects in Africa, including scholarship programs and healthcare initiatives," the statement revealed.
In his meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Bayramov discussed ways to broaden economic ties and humanitarian exchanges. They also touched upon regional security issues.
Earlier in May, Azerbaijan conducted its first round of political consultations with Kenya's government.
